Organised by Atropos and Butterfly Conservation, Moth Night is the annual celebration of moth recording throughout Britain and Ireland by enthusiasts with local events aimed at raising awareness of moths among the general public.

There will be both local and national events associated with this so watch the websites nearer the time.

Every year Moth Night has a theme, although recorders are always welcome and encouraged to do their own thing. This year the theme is migration. (If you want to plan ahead then the 2016 event is 9 – 11 June and the theme is hawk-moths.)

Events are confined to the warmest months and each event will last for three consecutive nights (Thursday – Saturday) and the event takes place on different date periods every year.

Recording can take place on any one or more of these days or nights.
